Heat Pump Servicing FAQ

  • You need to get your heat pump serviced to check that all parts of the system are running correctly.

  • No it is not a legal requirement, however if you left it too long you may invalidate you warranty

  • It is not very disruptive, we would generally just need access to the Air Source Heat Pump and the Cylinder to get to the parts we need to service.

  • The cleaner your system runs I.e. If it is free of air and dirt the more efficient it will continue to run. Good maintenance helps prevent costly breakdowns at a later date.

  • An Air Source Heat Pump service takes approximately 2-3 hours depending on the work that needs carrying out.

  • The service schedule from your heat pump and cylinder manual will be filled in and a service report will also be sent via email.

  • Unit check for insulation, secure on base, panels secure, electrical connections.
  • Clean evaporator coil
  • Clean magnetic filters and strainers in the system.
  • Check the glycol levels using a refractometer
  • Purge any air from the primary pipework/heating circuit.
  • Check flow rate and system pressure
  • Check expansion vessel charge pressure
  • Test heating and hot water warm up times
  • Test Back up immersion heater (Legionella)
  • Update customer benchmark/service records
  • Issue annual service report
